From the Artist:

This artwork depicts a Kashmiri woman, wearing the traditional pheran, unwiring a map of Kashmir- which is made out of a picture of a large gathering of women protesting the Indian state’s excessive use of force on the civilians. The woman appears to break the barbed wire by holding on to the two ends and in-process re-filling colour to the otherwise colourless map of Kashmir. This work is a tribute to the resilience of Kashmiri women, for their spirit in face of brutality /dispossession and their resolve for a dignified life for themselves and their family.
