Children's Art workshop with Shehzad Chowdhury

Workshop Description: 

A half-day art workshop for kids and young adults, including those whose parents/grandparents are originally from West Bengal, India, and Bangladesh. This workshop will help participants understand the geography, myths and folk practices of Bengal and help them realize the importance of rivers and water to the residents of this region. We'll learn about the rivers of Bangladesh spanning the area from the Sundarbans to the Himalayas. Participants will make artwork on the day and Shehzad Chowdhury will make a composite image from all the work created by participants. 

About the artist: 

Shehzad Shahriar Chowdhury is an artist and a curator based out of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is the founder of Longitude Latitude, an arts initiative. He has previously worked as the director of Dhaka Arts Center. He is currently working with artists and performers in negotiating a community of creative individuals called, LEELA - where minds come to play. He has organized and curated numerous art events and exhibitions across the country. Chowdhury's latest event (Longituide Latitude 6) hosted more than eighty back to back exhibitions, lectures performances and workshops in Dhaka, Bangladesh, over the course of a year or so.
